2007 European Tour

The 2007 European Tour was a highlight for the Trust, an experience that the ensemble members who participated in it, will never forget.

The main purpose of this trip was to inspire and motivate the children - to stretch their horizons, to inspire them to apply themselves with even more effort to music, to realise that it is possible to become a full time musician and to understand the dedication and sacrifices needed to do so. The tour saw ensemble members visiting Holland and England, performing concerts and receiving tuition. Most memorable of all, was the kindness and support received by ensemble members everywhere they went.

This is what Susan Sturrock from the Royal College of Music had to say about the concert at St. George’s Hanover Square. “It’s a joy to hear and see musicians playing so naturally, with such an apparently innate sense of style. They play without fuss. There’s no affectation. It’s such a profound pleasure to witness such music-making.” While Jonathan Reekie of Aldeburgh Music, attending the concert at South Bank Centre felt that “Melodi Music Ensemble played with great Commitment and joie de vivre a real understanding of their instruments and the music. Their enthusiasm was infectious making it a joy to listen. I was very impressed with what Nimrod Moloto and Melodi Music Project is doing.”

Our sincere and grateful thanks for the very kind donations made to the Trust during the tour, especially those from Michaela van Wassenaer, Maarten Vonk, Caroline and Paddy Mc Guigan , the Duchess of Somerset, Ramsbury Village and Ramsbury Church.
